Let's see: could it be the near depression state of the economy? Could it be too many professional sports franchises competing for ticket sales? NONE of the professional sports franchises have been worth a hill of beans in the w/l columns. The twinkies stunk the joint out AGAIN. The vikqueen stunk the joint out...AGAIN. The t-pukers stunk the joint out AGAIN. And the wild didn't do diddly way back when they USED to play. Maybe it was the incredible mess the politicians made of EVERYTHING! Perhaps it was ALL the unemployment. People were too busy hunting for jobs that no longer exist that they forgot to order their season tickets for all the Gophers 3 revenue sports...tickeyt for the twinkies, vikqueen, t-pukers and the wild. Maybe they were all doing yard-work all the time. Maybe they were spending too much time hunting, fishing, getting divorced, dropping out of college, high school and the job market. Maybe there were too engaged with their churche's particular stand on all kinds of issues. Maybe they were too worried about dropping off the fiscal cliff, medical care. Maybe they were up-side-down with their mortgage. Maybe too many fans were battling diabetic conditions, obesity, eating disorders, mental health issues, chemical dependency issues... Who knows? Maybe it was because the student section couldn't drink enough? There is a LOT of stuff going on. There are a LOT of reasons why attendance might be trending down. Perhaps it is saturation of the local market with too many other options. Or, MAYBE, the Gophers just need more B1G wins. Oh well, we are nearing another new year. MAYBE the trend will start reversing itself in 2013. Happy New Year, everyone and may all the revenue sports sell MORE tickets at the U of M! ; 0 )

Every game is on TV, why anyone attends anything remains a mystery.
