Rarely has the league's most valuable player not led his team to the playoffs.

I'm sorry but even if the Vikings were 0-16, he should be considered or even a favorite. What Peterson has done is truly amazing. A horrible QB, a major knee injury that every single running back before him never came back fully the very next season. They have to look at it this way, if it not for him, the Vikings might have 2-3 wins. He has truly been amazing!

It will be a shared MVP between Manning and Peterson IMO....Manning gets the come back award due to missing an entire year with an injury that some thought could have ended his career....plus with a new team. And not to take anything away from Peterson... Peterson could win outright MVP (and should) if he breaks the Rushing record...which he will by putting up 304 yards against the packers... :)

Great article. I'll just echo Packers WR Greg Jennings' comment "...I hope Peterson breaks the record." Yeah, especially nice if it happens against your team Mr. Jennings.

I will grant that Manning, after taking a year off and changing teams, is possibly the greatest QB "field general" of all time. But for THIS year if Peterson is not the MVP they should just change the name of the award to the MVQB, Most Valuable Quarterback, and be done with it. For that matter J.J. Watt should be in contention as well but it is even more rare for a defensive player to win anything other than strickly defensive awards.

If there were a award, for least mvp, we would have a guaranteed winner, with Ponder.

The Vikes will lose to Houston and that will be end of playoff hopes and thus #28's MVP candidacy. :-\

Great player on a useless team, like Barry Sanders. The team will lose both remaining games, period. Not just another negative post from a fan - it's what's going to happen.

It's going to be a close vote between Peterson and Manning. One will win comeback player of the year and the other will get MVP. Peterson is having a monster of a year, and so is Manning. I think Mark stated it correctly in that it will come down to who helped his team win more, and in that regard, it's Manning's award to lose.

Green Bay = MVF Most Valuable Franchise. The best ever ! And for A.P.? He better clinch it in Houston.
