Decker's experience should be a lesson for the Vikings: good QBs make their receivers better, not the other way around.

Guy is really fortunate being a gopher didn't ruin him for the NFL.

Tebow would still be an upgrade over Ponder. Just think how many running yards they could have between Peterson and Tebow. Ponder has proven we don't need a QB that can throw.

He was a stud with the Gophers just never had a good QB and kept getting hurt. NOW, wow. He's a good athlete the big difference is a QB who can get you the darn ball. Same with Percy and Farve. Too bad they left.

While Manning's a great QB, the Bronco wide receivers are FAR more athletic and talented than the Vikings crew. Not even close. And when ripping Gopher QB's during the Decker era, keep in mind that Adam Weber not only set tons of passing yard records while seemingly switching coordinators every year, but also is hanging around in the NFL while many of his college contemporaries never sniffed the league. When Decker was healthy, Weber knew how to find him.

"Adam Weber not only set tons of passing yard records while seemingly switching coordinators every year, but also is hanging around in the NFL" Two teams in one year as one of the practice squad QBs does indeed define "hanging around". And those passing yard records do build up when your primary play is a bubble screen to one of two NFL starting running backs and starting tight ends.

hobie2... I'm not a huge Adam Weber fan but I'm not sure who you think Weber was actually throwing to because he never played with Barber, Maroney, or Spaeth. Outside of Decker there was one decent season with Wheelright and one with McKnight and Gray otherwise there was very little offensive talent those four years.

schmidty - You are right. I stand corrected... But having watched most of those games and in particular the passing game, I assume that when you say that there was "very little offensive talent", you are not referring to the receiving corps.
