I was watching Richard Engel a few weeks ago and thinking about the real danger he was in. Luckily he escaped. To answer the question about why he'd go into such a dangerous situation, sometimes it's hard to get reliable news from outside the country. He wasn't forced to go into Syria. He knows the risk and accepts the fact he's putting his own life in danger so the world can know what's happening. Richard Engel is a lot more brave than I'll ever be.

NBC really kept a tight lid on this story during the duration of the time Engel was missing - news of it finally leaked out - very glad it's over for this excellent newsman. He always seems to be in a dangerous place as part of his job.
