I agree with the GOP. Time to go off the cliff. No more free rides.

Go ahead and nominate more tea party types in the GOP. That likely means more dem seats and dem control of the house. Hard to see how the GOP becomes more viable of a party that way? The country is in the middle, neither far right or far left.

Boehner's biggest challenge is not reaching an agreement with the Democrats. His biggest challenge is selling whatever agreement is reached to the Tea Party Caucus. Unless that bloc is on board, whatever agreement is reached is toast, and Boehner knows it.

Just out of curiosity...what is the bogieman everyone seems so afraid of? This "fiscal cliff" seems to be the direction that Congress--albeit with much more posturing and rhetoric, depending on the side the respective congressperson is sitting--is going anyway. More taxes and less spending? Why not? It is inevitable, in some form or other.

Let the country go over the cliff. According to the CBO, in the long run (3-5 years), that will make the country stronger than if we get these ridiculously small cuts in spending and small increase in taxes. As I have said before, There is NO politician that cares about the country as a whole, they only care about their reelection. As Ben Franklin says, this country will remain strong until the electorate discovers that they can vote themselves gifts at the expanse of the taxpayer! GET RID OF THE GIFTS. Cut all deductions by phasing ALL deductions out over 5 years!

There is no sense in trying to cut a deal with the obama and his supporters. They are all about spending at all costs. Until cuts to spending (not proposed spending) outweigh tax increases by a 3 or 4 to 1 margin, the debt will continue to rise. Unless you're OK with sticking your kids, grandkids, and great grandkids with the ever rising deficit, something has to happen NOW...not 10 years down the road like the dems seem eager to do. I know that those of you that disagree with this and will be happy to push this ever-raising debt on to your offspring will give me a thumbs down...but, fear not, it is expected from the entitlement-mindset group.
