Never let a good crisis go to waste. Here's an idea, Let's write a law outlawing insanity. Yea, that should solve the problem.

These comments by this president are ominous. He has a history of contempt for the constitution and issuing executive orders. Law abiding citizens should be very concerned. His speech last night was inappropriate as his job was to console, not to lay groundwork for a political agenda.

It is time to act, who cares what the NRA says. No more assault rifles, big ammo clips, or even internet sales and flea market sales. It is time to address how we buy, store, and keep weapons safe. Time to address the violence in video games too. The issue is huge, including the mental health part, but we can no longer turn a blind eye and give the NRA it's way!! We must change, children are now paying for our "gun culture."

No more carte blanche for gun owners to own assault weapons with high powered ammunition. No more selling body armor to civilians. They're not necessary to the general public. No more gun show loopholes. No more selling guns at flea markets, through the mail, or at Walmart. Guns don't kill people but peoples easy access to guns kills people. It's time for gun owners to acknowledge the social cost of their recreational gun ownership. They should be joining the discussion of how to prevent such mass killings not resisting every effort. Enough is enough.

Obama never misses an opportunity to grab more power and take away citizens rights. The government can't legislate us into a utopian society no matter how hard they try....

Obama vows to use power of his office to safeguard children, but offers few specifics, few specifics, pretty much like everything he talks about.

I was annoyed but not surprised by Obama's decision to put himself front-and-center last night in prime time. While it was right for him to visit Newtown and be there for the people, there was no reason for him to deliver a presidential address. There was no threat to the nation's security - nothing that any of the rest of us needed to hear at that time. Further, by putting the spotlight on himself (I would have been fine with an address from the Mayor and/or the Governor) he showed once again that his ego is unquenchable for attention and that he really doesn't understand the role of the office he occupies. Although I agree that as a nation we need to severely decrease the presence of hand guns and assault rifles, last night was NOT the time to go political and start banging the political drum for this (or any) cause. It showed again, poor taste and judgment by the president.

"our Bill of Rights does not guarantee gun manufacturers the absolute right to sell military-style, high-caliber, semi-automatic combat assault rifles with high-capacity magazines to whoever they want. It is time for Congress to put children before deadly dogmas."

Truckman182, the 2nd amendment says that arms are to be well-regulated. That is obviously what Joe Scarborough meant.
