Hopefully this will finally give Blair Walsh the attention he deserves. Zuerlein is a talented kicker, but he is no way near as consistent as Walsh.

We like to call him "Little Money" for his stature and the fact that when he kick's he's MONEY!

This guy is for real.....what a wonderful feeling when he comes in, knowing that there is almost an automatic 3 points coming.....Now if the quarterback and wide receivers could be step it up........

From the interviews he gives he's a quality young man as well. I sure hope everyone votes for him to get to the Pro Bowl, he deserves it for sure. Can't wait to see him in action at a game. Go Vikings.

Spielman has his detractors, and he does appear to have a blind spot for QBs and the all-importance of tight ends, but let's give credit where it's due: the 2012 draft will easily go down as one of the top five in the team's 52 year history with five or six starters playing well and possibly two rookie pro bowlers.

hilgenberg, Spielman signed free agents Simpson and Carlson. His grade for signing free agents is a F. Also Spielman, will not substitute Ponder, no matter how poor he plays, another F.

Those who are still PO'd that they got rid of Longwell raise your hand.

@Bengraved... On the whole (five contributing rookies vs two free agent flops) which GMs around the league did better last off-season? As for continuing with Ponder next season, Ricky won't bother with that if Ponder sucks again in the last two games. He'll get another QB. How could he not? After the last couple of seasons with Ponder I can't imagine any sane GM going into next season without making any attempts at finding another QB.

"if Ponder sucks again in the last two games. He'll get another QB. How could he not?"-----because we have too much money tied up in him, being a 1st round pick. Doesn't matter that he was a reach. Same money. That is why you don't draft a QB, you buy them. For every Manning or Elway, there are 10 Leaf's and Couch's. That said.....I believe the best course of action is to secure a veteran who is servicable, if unspectacular, unhappy with his current situation, and sign him with the understanding that he will begin the season as the back-up/mentor to Ponder. And that Ponder will have a short leash. Walsh has been a tremendous find. The part seldom talked about is the % of his kickoffs that go for touchbacks. Nice find in the 6th round......where some decent QB's have been found over the years.....like some guy playing in Boston.

redgrange12 Ninety percent of the scouting reports, had Kalil as a top five pick in last years draft, also had Smith, as a first rounder. Spielman does not deserve much credit for reading the scouting reports, and picking those two areas of need, for the Vikes. Will give Spielman credit for Blair Walsh pick, however, about time, we have a kicker with a strong leg, on kickoffs, something we should have had, more than just this one year.
