Hartman: Grant says longevity the key to Peterson's greatness

Bud Grant said he believes the combination of strength and speed makes Adrian Peterson the best back in the NFL.

I am no particular fan of Rick Spielman or, so far, our wonderful coach, but I must say they did do a great job on last years draft. It can't be argued that our draft was very successful between picking Kalil, Walsh, Smith, Josh Robinson and Jarius Wright. Another great draft like that and a couple free agents and we could actually have hope again. I think the success this year is good, but not sustainable.

I had the opportunity to watch Foreman play. Gosh he was a great back, I guess I did not realize the short career he had. I hope that Peterson can keep it going for more years to come. And just maybe, in the very near future, that Peterson can lead to a Vikings Super Bowl win. Bud Grant, nice to hear from you again.

As I have said before Minnesota fans like to criticize coaches, but none of them could coach a third grade flag team to victory over a kindergarten quiz bowl team. The problem in Minnesota is not the coaches or the players it is fans who need to get a vocation of their own and go out and earn a living.
