Very misleading. The Vikes don't control their own destiny. If Vikes won both their remaining games they would need Giants to lose one (balt, PHI) in order to make playoffs. Washington and Dallas play each other with the loser out. Vikes would have tie-breaker over Bears due to common games record. Vikes win 2, Giants lose 1, Vikes are in.

What a worthless story, the season doesn't end today, why not give us the various scenarios? doug's comment is more interesting! Yes, no matter how the season end, MN can't beat NYG in a tie breaker, as NYG will finish 4-1 in common games and MN even with a GB win would tie conference games and be 2-3 in common games (WAS, SF, GB, TB). Obviously, we can't tie WAS for a WC spot. If we tie DAL at 10-6, we tie in conference then lose in common games tie breaker (DAL 2-3, MN 1-4 vs. CHI, WAS, SEA, TB), but if we tie DAL at 9-7 by beating GB we win conference tie breaker. .....So, if we concede the first WC spot to SEA we need NYG to lose one or both, DAL to lost to WAS (or both), and if we lose to HOU have CHI also lose another. a 7-3 conference record and best MN can do is 6-4.

The Giants are definitely the problem since they get a bye (Philadelphia) the last week.

Folks above got it right. This is the Great Suck In. In two more weeks the talk will be what if. The bottom line is the Vikes won't make the playoffs. The rubes are being set up for another typical Viking disappointment! Book it!

"another typical Viking disappointment", what are you talking about? At worst Vikes go 8-8. So what, did YOU think they would win 8 games? Almost no one did. Talking playoffs alone is the icing on the cake for this season. If they don't get in, so what, they have a definately moved toward the positive this year, minus the questionable QB play.

I agree, assuming the Vikes win out (a big assumption), our problem is the Giants. Washington and Dallas are a non-issue. The Giants will have a 10-6 record with a 8-4 conference record, the best the Vikes can do is 7-5.

Now the playoff talk begins? Coach Frasier should've considered the playoffs better when he kept an abysmal Ponder at QB during in Green Bay - a game with pivotal playoff implications. Instead, he didn't adjust and conceded a game which we could have easily won. In other words, our playoff chances went out the door weeks ago.

NYG is NOT the problem. IF MN wins out we don't care if NYG wins out, we only need NYG to win division IF NYG wins out, which means NYG can win out but the winner of the DAL/WAS game MUST LOSE their other game. There are also more likely scenarios where MN loses to HOU but beats GB, and can make it with one CHI loss AND NYG winning out AND WAS loses out, or one CHI loss AND NYG loses two AND DAL loses two.
