It's a hard argument to make to veto rail in your city when all it does is add value to your community and property. It's also incredibly selfish to keep EVERYBODY else from getting what they want for your own self interests -- especially if those self interests are not very significant.

Skip Golden Valley. They can then watch, the jobs, the shopping, the workers and their tax base go elsewhere. Get on board or just become another forgotten inner city wasteland.

I didn't realize cities lost the right to decide their own fate. Thanks west 336, glad you are around to tell cities how they should live. Liberty is an antiquated notion anyway right?

This is an effort to prevent people passing through to see all the flashers and hobos that hang out at the park. That is the real reason values would go down.

Opat says the line must pass a cost effectiveness test. No light rail can pass that test. Unless, riders paying 20% of the actual cost is considered effective.

the North Minneapolis option is the best route, and provides much needed economic development and transportation opportunities for the northside. Routing it through Theodore Wirth has ZERO economic development options for Golden Valley. the route is too far from Golden Valley downtown, and will only be served Target executive traveling from downtown to their Brooklyn Park campus. As a taxpayer, I preferred to not to cater to a select few (Target execs).

Maybe we can learn from our mistake on the Southwest LRT avoiding Uptown, and run LRT through North Mpls instead of another unpopulated ravine.

@west336- pot meet kettle?? If you read the article you would know they arent in support or the existing plan...it's not one option or none...maybe for these outer ring suburbs who rely on those in between. It's also incredibly selfish to think your opinion matters...
