Yep, it is a pretty good movie...I'm thinking the critics attacked it not having a clue about the book and not realizing that much of the movie was pulled directly (word for word at some points) from the book. My guess is that they wanted to pull more people to read a bad review of a decent movie, which most likely worked this time...although they have destroyed their credibility and I doubt they'll have much impact on my future movie viewing again.

Having read the reviews I was ready to be disappointed. Happy to report the movie was really good. They could not have cast a better lead than Martin Freeman.

When I first saw the Fellowship of the Ring in a theater, I thought it was good, but nothing that special. Then I got the DVD and I viewed it again and I really liked it a lot. I later viewed it a third time and liked it even more. It’s now one of my favorite films. I think that’s the case here. The Hobbit sets up the Trilogy in the same fashion as Fellowship of the Ring did for LOTR. However, I really liked this Hobbit movie on the first viewing and I never thought it dragged at all during the early parts of the movie as the movie critics stated. Ignore the movie critics on this one.

Not being the typical follower of this type of film, I went last yesterday. I had read the review here and was prepared to be disappointed. Bought tickets for the 3D, HFR version. From the time it started to it's close sequence, I forgot about the real world altogether. It is what great movie-making is about...good story, great characters and stunning effects and cinematography. I have see the "big" movies this fall since Skyfall came out. I can't imagine any other movie taking the Oscar for Best Picture. Completely amazing...
