I find it irreverent to hear Josh Groban sacredly sing "O Holy Night" while shopping for a toilet at Menards.

At the airport yesterday a man was playing Chopin beautifully on a grand piano near the baggage claim and was nearly drowned out by manically sung Christmas "Music". At the risk of sounding like a grinch, I would have loved to have had the classical music win.

Not surprising it was Josh Groban who pushed the author over the edge at Menard's. Hearing Groban's grating, unnatural vibrato is like cleaning your ears with 80-grit sandpaper.

That fact that you know what a Josh Groban is says you need to prioritize your life and enjoy that you're topside of the turf.

If its bad enough for the shoppers, imagine what it's like for the employees at these stores! I worked for Dayton's years ago, and had to listen to Barbara Streisand singing "Jingle Bells" every three and a half hours. Not only does it get repetitive, but sapped every ounce of Christmas spirit out of my being.

I'm sick to death of it. Every year the stores push the season out further. Some stores were playing Christmas music the day after Halloween. Fortunately, I was able to retreat to my car and cleanse my musical palette with some Norwegian death metal.

These "stars" like Josh Groban, Garth Brooks, and many others record Christmas songs to make money $$$$. It's a business. The songs are already pre-written, some many decades ago. The band may already be hired or the music may already be pre-recorded. All the "artists" have to do is show up, lay down the vocal tracks, and walk away with a truck load of money. And every time the song gets played they get more money in the form of a royalty. That's why they record Christmas songs.
