What does the Hartford Courant believe should be done? How about we hold adults responsible for raising their children and teaching them right from wrong? If the Courant believes that today's shooter would not have gotten a gun in times of stronger gun control laws, they are mistaken. Worst part is that we will never know the reason for this tragedy.

maybe they should research this: In China yesterday, a man entered an elementary school there and slashed 22 kids with a knife. Simply, crazy is as crazy does, they will find a way.

President Obama was right; our hearts are broken. For the victims of a misguided young man; for their parents, families, neighbors and classmates; for the survivors and their families and friends. A man with a gun killed innocent people. In his speech, the President said that we need to take action to address the escalating violence that is filling our newspapers. People with guns are acting in a manner that is not civilized and is not linked to defending themselves. It's time for us to take action. We will mourn and we must take steps to stem this violent tide.

The "gun culture" is alive and well in Minnesota. Do you not know what happened last month? Half a million hunters went out to kill deer. Tens of thousands more tried earlier with bows. Countless thousands loaded up their boats, built "blinds" and did their best to slaughter our waterfowl. In Wisconsin the "hunters" stalk down bear with dogs and hunt wolves with lights at night. And let's not forget Hollywood, with their brazen and, frankly, irresponsible portrayals of new and different ways to kill people. But, the madmen who do these things are, in fact, madmen. Remember Norway? How many kids were killed there by that whacko? But, banning guns is not the answer. If they are not available, these whackos will use other means to kill. And, frighteningly, these other means may well be substantially more lethal than the most gruesome firearm.

This nut job somehow gets a gun. He could just as easily drive a car into a crowd of people. U gotta be nuts to walk u to a kid and shoot them point blank. How can u blame access to a gun for this act? He was sick.
