God, this is terrible.

I hate guns. I hate what crazy people holding loaded guns do. If all of you gun advocates feel sane, calm and respectful of the destruction guns can do, then you should have no problem with things like permits, tighter restrictions, etc. Please don't tell me that an armed third-grader or lunch lady could have prevented this.

Killing of children is horrendous. We are all sick about this. God bless the children (they never had a chance)!

People are already required to carry permits to carry handguns....from the looks this was committed with a hunting rifle. And criminals do not follow gun laws, so having more of them will not solve the problem. All gun control will do is to prevent law abiding citizens from protecting themselves....and take away 2nd amendment rights.....

You use the bodies of these children and teachers/administrators/etc... as a soapbox for gun control. Take your soapbox to Conn. and see how well you can stand and talk then...you'll be greeted the same way a Westboro Baptist is greeted at a soldiers funeral.

With all that is in the news about gun violence lately, isn't time to finally confront the NRA about this?

I have huddled in the corner of a classroom with my class during an actual lockdown-escaped criminal who ran through the school building-with the door locked, the shades pulled, behind the big desk. If I were armed and confronted the shooter, I would be exposing my children to even more danger. Let's not even talk about gun control pros and cons in this thread. Let's talk about making our schools safer-and pray for the families of the killed and injured.

Perhaps instead of ranting about guns, we should be conveying our thoughts and prayers for the victims, and hoping that as a society,we get a grip on the mental health issues that seem to afflict the perpetrators of these horrendous crimes.

Those 18 kids were someones babies, and here we have people rushing on to a newspaper comment board to show more concern for their precious guns. I'm a gun owner and let me tell you that you people make me sick!!
