Maybe it's time to start prying your precious gun out of your "cold dead fingers".
No, atoonce. You are wrong. If all those elementary schoolers had guns, they would have been safe. More guns, not less
Seriously though, people need to pay attention to the mental health of the people in their lives. Is your son or husband increasingly isolated, obsessed with guns or violence, and withdrawn? DO OR SAY SOMETHING!
I get it that somebody has to actually load and shoot the firearm. That said, why in the hell is it STILL so damn easy for crazy people to get their hands on firearms and ammunition in this country?
NRA -- guns don't kill people, people kill people. But that also means guns do not protect people either, contrary to your mortal craziness.
Bob Costas is right.
I'm not anti-gun but I've never met anyone that could throw a bullet hard enough to kill someone so let's be real. Guns kill people.
How did the "gunman" die? Did he shoot himself, or did someone else? Until that comes out, it is hard to judge whether guns protected the school kids or not. Also, I don't think "gunman' is an occupation; what did he do in life? And once again, shootings happen at a place where guns are banned. All it proves that banning guns doesn't make you safer, it just makes you defenseless. Bill G.
There was a reason that towns in the eighteen hundreds started to ban guns in town. Country's that have strict gun control all have far fewer gun killings. Maybe we need to learn from history rather then ignore it.
sgjsdad-- many, if not most, guns are bought legally after background checks. We have no idea what kind of guns these guys had. Maybe the background checks are not enough? You can't just throw out the 2nd Amendment. But banning automatic rifles -- I would have no problem with that. Arming the teachers is not the answer either. How do these guys get into the school to begin with?
What I really want to know, is WHY does a newspaper think it's appropriate to show a picture of frightened CHILDREN. Sensationalism at it's finest.
