"A substantial number of GOP lawmakers, however, strongly oppose deep military spending cuts." Guess who has been benefiting from that terrible, dreadful, deficit?
Yep, drive it off the cliff and the GOP gets hammered. Then propose tax cuts for the bottom 98%. If the GOP passes it then they get hammered again for not making a deal in the first place. If they obstruct it further it reinforces they only represent the top 2%. Either way, lose or lose for the GOP!
What is the purpose for the tax cuts or tax increases? What is the purpose for the spending cuts or increases? If it is the intent of our leaders to balance our budget, reduce our debt and ease the possibility of a financial collapse, then major tax increases and major spending cuts are needed.

Why would you propose tax cuts? If the Bush tax cuts expire we revert back to the Liberal cherished Clinton tax rates for everyone! Nirvanna for Liberals. Those tax rates produced the best economy and the best run on employment. We should be Under 5% unemployment in what 6-7 months?
