Told he wasn't tall enough to merit a scholarship with the Gophers, the Wayzata alum has piled up tackles for the champion Bison instead.

Great article, NDSU has 32 kids from Minnesota and NDSU is 26-2 last 28 games, #1 defense in the country and has beaten 6 FBS teams. NDSU can be the "boise state" of the Midwest and since Minnesota refuses to schedule NDSU anymore, maybe all the Minnesota/Twin cities people can jump on the bandwagon! ESPN 2 7pm Friday or come tailgate with the 20,000 of us!

Brewster was a buffoon and these kids are fortunate to play in a solid football program.

It's impossible to say what would have happened in a different situation, but Olson is not only a tremendously smart, technically sound linebacker, he's also the consummate leader and quarterback of his defense. Having seen this kid play live, what another tremendous blunder for Brewster to not offer him.

I think Minnesota needs to look at Nebraska under Tom Osborne. He never would have let an in state kid with this type of talent get away. And if Osborne could not get him an Scholarship, he had a real walk-on program set up where a kid like this could come in and earn one.

He can play at NDSU because he is a little guy. He can not play at the U because he would get run over and hurt. The players are bigger, faster and stronger than in that other league. There is a big difference. Good on him.

There is a big difference between not offering to instate HS players, that turn around and beat you--that happens everywhere. What makes it especially bad at Minnesota, like nowhere else in all of the BCS division schools, is that at my alma mater, kids that don't get offers, go to D-II schools, that turn around and beat you. There is something wrong about that campus and the jokers that we've had as head coaches. NCAA violations can't fix it, new ADs can"t fix it, new coaches can't fix it. The Twin Cities loves it's Vikings, but likes to tell everyone about it's 100+ years of marriage with Big Ten football, which they've moved on from.

He will likely get a better education there too.

Wis haha too small? Ask FBS Colorado state olson had 13 tackles vs them.and had 6 vs gophers last year. Get a clue, I'm tailgating right now and guess what NDSU already bought 10, 000 tickets for thier national championship game they havent even gotten too and gophs fans bought 2000 of 12, 000 for thier bowl game BOOM
