Dealing with children of divorce is difficult, especially when one parent doesnt cooperate for the best of the child. My then 16 yr old daughter, tried to pull this same "power trip" with me. If I didnt allow her to do something,have something, or go somewhere, she'd always tell me she wanted to go live with Dad. Finally, tired of the war, I got fed up one evening. I told her to pack up her things, and I would take her to live with her Dad. I made the call to Dad to let him know shed be on her way. It didnt take two weeks and she moved back home with me when she realized living with him wasnt what she thought it would be. It was a root of awakening for her to see all those things promised by him never transpired once she was in his house.

The kids can take a picture of themselves in the library, store it in the phone and send it when you text them. I am in the library Dad!!!

dvsdab123 - You're exactly right, kids are far more creative and resourceful than we give them credit for. They'll have the whole "text me a picture" thing figured out in a second. I have a better idea. Teach your kids to be honest and trustworthy. Teach them good habits and how to be safe. After that realize that you're not going to be able to be by their side 24/7 and sometimes they're going to have to make their own decisions, and then live with the possible consequences that occur from those decisions. They'll learn along the way. Putting tracking on their phone or making them text pics won't teach them anything, other than how to try to cheat the system.

tcatheart, I don't agree. A responsible parent does teach these things to their children but you assume there will be compliance from them when they are adolescents. That is naive thinking. We always had our boys call from a land line when they reached their destination. With caller ID verification was easy.
