I've worked out of a home office since 1990. Any employee that can't handle it will make themselves known within weeks. The fact is, home based employees tend to work longer hours since we can arrange our schedule to suit our personal lives. For an example, I'm usually up and working by 5:00 AM. At 7:30 I take the kids to school, then back to the office by eight. At 2:00, I go pick them up, help them with their homework and back to work by three. I knock off around five, get dinner on the table and then log back on after 9:00 PM until midnight. It's a lot of hours, but it doesn't feel like it since I'm here and I can interact with my family.
Perhaps some readers are a little young, but this reminds me of the movie 9-5. Of course this can be a very beneficial track. From my view all of we who are small business owners already fit this category.
I am semi retired but going at it hard, my partners have developed a consultant group. Strength is found in numbers and the variety of experience we share.
