I wish I had a choice as to which power company I drew power from. But that would be Un-American.

So...I cut back by using energy efficient appliances and light bulbs and NOW, they just increase the base delivery charge as well as the cost, to basically wipe out any savings I was getting by upgrading my home. This is a joke, pay back investments and make up for less energy usage? That was the plan all along wasn't it? Get homes to become more energy efficient? Now we're going to penalize everyone and slap them in the face? $9 a month, not gonna break the bank but....this one increase is almost MORE than all the increases for the past 7 years combined. It's a pretty large jump but...what can us customers do? It's not like we can switch electric companies freely.

1) I thought all those windmills were supposed to lower our rates. 2) They badger us to "conserve". We do. Now we use less energy so their sales dropped. It's only fair then that they charge a whole lot more for less energy so they can keep the stock dividends up and they don't have to build additional supply. isn't monopoly energy supply wonderful

You can thank the alternative energy requirements in this state for your bloated power bills. Too bad this law was passed by the "extremist" Pawlenty and a willing Democrat legislature.

Sure, they tell us to be more efficient. Use less power. So, we do then they complain they aren't making as much money and ask for a rate increase.....

There seems like something is wrong when you can allow a monopoly by georgaphy to dictate profit levels based on what their investors demand, something wrong with those regulating the for profit industry. Perhaps allowing individuals to buy electricty from anyone who wants to seel it to them using the governmentally approved licensing and "public" lawless authority to use eminent domain inherent in the process would be the way to go. let's work on that.

I guess all those ads that Excel has been running to encourage more efficient appliances and energy conservation techniques have to get paid for somehow.

Whatever happend to cheap, clean nuclear power. Remember now everyone, we'll be continuing to pay for this for at least the next 1000 years.
