The GOP will cave or they are toast in 2014 and they know it. It's a stupid game of chicken that they are going to lose so get on with it already.

This is absurd. Obama will OWN this upcoming disaster. He continues to balk at any major league spending cuts, which is the only way out of this mess.

ikyabwai, the GOP will not cave but your patially right. The GOP is looking out for whats best for the economy and the deficit. You right the GOP is toast in 2014, i see Democratic rule for awhile. With the FEDS ruling they will be printing 45 billion a month the ball is in motion for a total collapse. The last election proved theres more takers than givers, the problem is the givers, i.e the Government is on the verge of bankruptcy.

Wrong, for the past 4 years the GOP has put party before country on every vote...

Congress needs to be locked in a room until this is solved. Clearly Boehner cannot put the countrys interests above his political ambitions and should be shown the door come Jan.

Someone REALLY needs to establish a facebook group or something similar, to the effect of "Vote out ALL INCUMBANTS if a compromise isn't reached and we go off the cliff." If people, for once in our lives, would actually have a long enough memory to vote out those repsonsible for these types of collapses (see Minnesota state government shutdown of 2011), then we might have a chance at influencing outcomes. But just like with the MN government shutdown last year, we all forget by the time we get to the polls. It's our fault and we get the government we deserve. Sad.

why not pass what they all agree with. Pass the tax cut extensions for 98% of Americans. Then work on the hard stuff.
