The drought map is not entirely accurate. There can be large areas are much worse then what is actually indicated on the map. West of bemidji for instance entire wetlands are now bone dry, there is only an inch of snow on the ground and we've had temps down to -16F already. All spring and summer southern and central parts of Minnesota had too much water. Parts of North central and NW Minnesota never got that rain so they have been suffering from a long term drought. There was just enough rain to keep the grass green but nothing to regenerate the soil moisture levels.

Is it just me or does the headline ("Sunday's big snow did little to ease Minnesota drought") not match the encouraging tone of the article at all?
