Deep passing success remains elusive for Vikings

In an offensive performance Sunday that resembled a UFC ground-and-pound attack far more than a Cirque du Soleil aerial show, the Vikings had at least two opportunities to stretch the field deep against Chicago. Both times they failed to capitalize.

I'm a little confused after reading Ponder talk about how he needs to push off of his back foot to get the ball to a speedy receiver. I've read quite a few times about how Ponder's greatest asset is his intelligence but isn't this a time when he should just slap himself on the forehead and say to himself; "well dah" or ask himself "do ya think?"

he can't throw the ball more than 20 yards with velocity *and* accuracy. throwing mechanics or whatever you want to paint it as won't fix that

Troy Aikman said last night that one big problem is that some rookie QB's have just taken expectations off the charts. His first 2 years were horrible losing seasons for the Cowboys and he turned out all right. (HOF and 3 rings) He also had a WR, RB and a solid O line. The Vikings have the best back int he league and a solid line. Aside from the lack of WR talent I still think a lot of Ponders problems has to do with coaching. The QB coach and the OC are not setting him up to succeed as well as other coaches around the league. They need to seriously reevaluate those coaching positions.

Any new news out there? We all know Ponder is a dud and has proven it withojut any doubt. As far as Frazier they will never win playyoff football this guy. He and Ponder are in a category alone called the "chokers club".

I think "elusive" is used here as a euphemism for "non-existent". Just like "Ponder" is used for "quarterback".

How could a pro QB, throw a football 8-10 yds short? The long pass should be practiced, enough, that it should be second nature. 3 or four feet, off on a long, pass might not be so bad, but missing by 8-10 yards, is almost unbelievable.
