Trading for Larry Fitzgerald Jr. would be fabulous, but highly problematic.

With Fitz, we wouldn't need Harvin. Harvin's a great player, but he will continue to get injured due to his style of play. There is always fairly good talent in the early rounds to play slot. With Fitzgerald's work ethic, he could have a good 5 years in him.

bear_32, Rand makes some valid points, but I agree with you. As good as Harvin is, I'd trade him straight up for the older Fitzgerald because we already have our future slot receiver in Wright. In addition, get lucky in the draft or free agency and, bingo, we have a good receiving corp. Alas, the best we have to toss to them (I mean rainbow-duck to them) is Christian Ponder. IMHO, QB position needs to be addressed before WR. Skol Vikes.

The Cardinals need a QB. The Vikes need a WR. Maybe there's room to trade Ponder plus some picks for proven wideout. With Fitzgerald to throw to (and Harvin too, assuming he's healthy) either Joe Webb or Bethel-Thompson should be able to put together a competitive passing attack.

Trade Percy and Joe Webb for Larry.

I have to say these are all pretty terrible and/or unrealistic ideas being expressed in the comments. Why would Arizona trade Fitzgerald for Harvin? That would make absolutely no sense ("before the trade we had a great receiver...after the trade we have a different great receiver"). And given the season Ponder has put together, his ability to be an NFL starter is very much in question. AZ just made a terrible trade to get Kevin Kolb--I have no clue why they would want Ponder. And even if they did, Joe Webb and/or MBT are not starting caliber NFL quarterbacks. It would be amazing to have Fitz and Percy on the same team, but you need someone to throw it to them. Ponder quite possibly isn't that guy, but I'm pretty certain Webb (who I really like) and MBT are not. Anyway, point is Fitzgerald isn't coming to the Vikings unless we give up several high draft picks, and that would be a dumb move.

I would not trade Harvin for Fitz. Harvin is way more valuable. Anyone that disagrees doesn't know football and defensive planning. We don't even come close to fully utilizing Harvin who has just as much down field threatability as Fitz. Call me crazy but I'm right.

I agree, we should save the money to bring in a good seasoned QB if one comes available next year. There's nothing like some competition to either make Ponder play better or it will be time to ship him out!! If Ponder doesn't get his act together it's not going to matter how many good receivers we get anyway!! Just ask Larry Fitzgerald about that!!

The problem is not even wide receivers at all with this team. The obvious problem is Ponder who does not have passing accuracy. You can bring in Larry or whomever, Ponder is still going to be ponder. Change the quarter back and see how everything clicks

The only logical way I could see bringing Fitz in would be to trade Harvin for him due to money about to be given to the wide receiver position next year. Arizona might consider Harvin and Webb. Giving up draft picks is a really bad idea however. Let's remember that this Vikings team has been getting built the right way and that's through the draft. Jared Allen, Antoine Winfield, Charlie Johnson, and Michael Jenkins are the exceptions and I've read arguments for replacing all of these players in the near future for a variety of reasons. Most of the good solutions are found through the draft. This Vikings team would be significantly better if the following positions were upgraded: quarterback, wide receiver, defensive tackle, and middle linebacker. That's only four positions. The draft and free agency should be able to take care of that and more in the upcoming off season. Wake up, smell the coffee, and know that this Vikings team has been getting both younger and better through the draft.

Trading Harvin would be suicidal! Is there a better kick returner in the league? He is capable of doing even MORE on offense if we only had a coordinator with vision and ingenuity. Upgrading the QB situation should be the Vikings #1 priority!
