Craig: Unlike one-third of his peers, Frazier's job should be secure

The victory over the Bears probably earned him a contract extension.

I agree. Frazier has done nothing to lose his job. I just hope the Vikes start winning more games soon to take the pressure off.

I don't think Frazier is a bad coach but if Andy Reid is available, I would jump at the chance.

I wanted to add that we can't keep wasting Adrian Peterson's prime.

if frazier is safe than i guess that is okay, but if he stays he needs to make a move at offensive coordinator and get rid of musgrave.

Its obvious the Wilfs and Spielman have been looking for any reason or excuse to extend Frazier. But I remain unconvinced. If the Wilfs/Spielman's reasoning is to maintain the status quo and make money...they probably will. If they want to win Championships and Super Bowls...I don't think Frazier is the right man.

Well, if there's one thing you can count on in this world it's the Star Tribune overreacting to a single Viking victory, and immediately shilling for a contract extension for whoever the coach is at the time. They did the same exact thing for Childress halfway through the '09 season, and they did it for Frazier after a single victory against Philadelphia after the Dome collapsed. You would think the Star would have learned its lesson by now. I'm not saying that Frazier ought to be fired, but he definitely has not earned a contract extension as of yet. Remember, the Vikings entered the season with one of the easiest schedules of the year following a three win season a year ago. Next year the schedule will be much more difficult and since it is likely that Ponder will still be the QB and Musgrave the offensive coordinator I already don't like their chances. What does it hurt to let a coach finish his current contract before offering him a new one anyways? Put the pom-poms away, Star Tribune, quit trying to create news when you don't have anything else to write about and let's at least see how the Vikings finish the year before you start applying the pressure to the Wilfs again to grant contract extensions to those who have yet to prove they deserve one.

"[I]t's a credit to our scouting staff, [General Manager] Rick [Spielman] and his staff...." Yeah, they did a great job reaching on Ponder with the 12th overall pick when everyone else had a third-round grade on him.

re: "In 832 games over 52 seasons" Correct me if I am wrong, but I think you made a rookie math error. 832 = 16 * 52, but there were not 16 regular season games in all 52 years, were there? So please provide the correct number of games.

If it is the most bone-headed thing to do, then yes they will extend his contract. They will also probably try and pick up Vick too, because of his awesomeness at being washed up, just like the McNabb experiment. Maybe Ponder will top 250 yards total passing yard in the next three games, but that is a long shot and he has to play his very best.

Frazier has exceeded my expectations by 2 wins so far but it would be wise of Zygi and Spielman to see how these last 3 games go before making any decisions on Frazier's future. They are in a tough spot, though, because if Musgrave is let go, Frazier will have a heck of a time finding a credible OC to take his place if Frazier only has one year left on his contract. I'm troubled by the lack of preparation at times this season. 10 days off to prep for Seattle, and they looked horrible. 2 weeks off to prep for the Bears, and they looked horrible.
