MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Vikings may hope their new stadium is a hostile environment for the Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals, but the Department of Natural Resources hopes it will be friendly to real birds.

It likely already has been factored into the design process, since it's likely a standard process in architectural design, especially when you're talking about glass. The DNR is only saying it for good publicity.

"By the way, the DNR can offer some serious funds if they want it to be "bird friendly". - Where were your comments when the NFL wouldn't pony up for their own place of business? Seriousness doesn't enter into stadium discussions unless the question isn't about mney, so the DNR is just showing itself in a great scientific position and a faithless and abboragating function one with their "hope"

Seriously, who cares about birds! When I go to the stadium, I watch my favorite team, not watch birds flying around. Birds are filthy fowl and why should we cater to them. This is about football, not wildlife. By the way, the DNR can offer some serious funds if they want it to be "bird friendly".

State money is invloved here, as are permits. Making this a ciondition of that (as opposed to "hope") only makes sense. When designing this alter to the church of bigness, architects should be taking that into consideration lest the structure not pass environmental muster. We could save a lot of time, and remove the DNR from the process, by simply removing state funding and oversight from the contruction and allowing the private market to do what it does best, pick winners and losers based on capitals' willingness to invest in a for profit scheme. Which in this case they did and said it wasn't worth it, to they demanded tribute from the party.

In my line of business, that is called requirements creep. I tell my customer, new requirement, more funding. Time for the DNR to pony up.

The DNR is way too late to hen-peck this project.

guth54 - " Call your elected senate and house representatives and tell them to halt the funding." Yeah, good luck with that.
