And yet in the article I read right before this one, a grandfather shoots his own granddaughter in his own home thinking she is an intruder. What a land we live in. We don't have to worry about criminals killing us--we will shoot ourselves because of our own fears.

This is good news for all law abiding citizens that carry guns. Not so good news for street thugs.

mgtwinsfan1987: Shooting a relative from the safety of your own home is a much different situation than carrying a gun in public places. You might just want to hide in a hole for a few hundred years until this whole thing blows over.

A victory for those who follow and believe in the Constitution. As with all the other CCW states, crime in Illinois will drop once the law there is up and running and people start carrying concealed. Everyone benefits, because criminals never know exactly WHO is carrying. It makes it safer for everyone, even the gun-haters.

No worries. We'll get to the point that the "bad guys" will just shoot people in the back and take their wallet. Oh, and their gun as well.

The dissenting justice said more guns means more violence and deaths. Wrong. His premise and that of most anti-gun folks is that legal gun owners are incapable of following the law and that they will shoot people. It's not the law-abiding people doing the bad deeds. Thankfully, this court understands that.

"The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said state lawmakers have 180 days to write a new law that legalizes concealed carry." - I'm not understanding this. All we need is the constitution, no state has the authority to abridge this right, to effectively limt carry, charge a fee or cause one to be charged, or to require others to impose burdens. The Bill of Rights is all a US Citizen needs. Perhaps the court meant pass a law concerning non citizens?

The country needs "one state people can look to and see it's still doing the right thing." They did look and what they saw was that Illinois has one of the highest rates of firearms deaths in the nation. Of course, in a year or so when CC is instituted in the last holdout state and there's a dramatic fall in gun violence, the gun banners and bullet taxers will claim that the drop is just a coincidence unrelated to CC, just as they have claimed in other states.

"In a major victory for gun rights advocates,".... This opening line is woefully inaccurate. It should read "In a major victory for citizens who support the Constitution of the United States of America...."

The right to own weapons isn't all-encompassing, although some might think that it should be. There are already limitations on firearm possession. You can't, for example, own a machine gun or an atomic bomb. It's not a question of whether there should be limitations. The question is what those limitations should be.
