There you go, fellow Twins fans, this is the market rate for an "ace" starting pitcher. Trading away Mauer (and his entire contract) still wouldn't allow us to sign a true #1 pitcher without increasing payroll (not to mention the relative value of everyday players vs. once-in-five pitchers). Maybe the Twins should be asking the Dodgers about the guys they won't be using in their rotation, because the Twins won't be signing any top level free agents pitchers.

That's quite the contract clause that Ryu got about not being able to be demoted down to the minors... Imagine if Nishi had that in his Twins contract when he was with us. Blahhhh...
