Date of Rubio return still unsettled

Whether it's Wednesday, Saturday or after will hinge not only on his knee, but on the Wolves' busy schedule.

I would play Rubio 20mpg and no back-backs for at least 2wks and then increase by 5mpg/wk from there if all goes well. It would be a bad move to turn him into the next Mark Prior. Williams will get his minutes, AK's back will go out again if we continue to play him 35+mpg every game, and Bud's not back for months and then weeks after that w/conditioning and getting his shot/quicks back. I hope Roy can hold up the rest of the season and give us 15mpg of solid play on both ends.

In a perfect world, our heros would all be 100% healthy all the time. We try not to think of who will be injured when we envision how good our team could be. We only think of Rubios passes to a wide open Bud for 3, or AK contributing an all around game night in and night out, or Brandon being the Brandon of old, and contributing nightly, or Love dominating opponents on his way to his nightly double double. In the real world, it rarely works out that way...for any team. The teams that are the healthiest are usually the ones hoisting the trophy at the end of a very long season. Look no further than Sam Cassell to witness how a key injury at the wrong time can derail a season. At least these injuries are coming at a good time, if ever there was one. Here's to hoping at the end of the year, we will be the healthiest we have been in a long time.

We have to understand that Rubio can't play many minutes, he must play 15 mpg just for the next two or three weeks. In order to get a playoff team we can't allow Rubio to play more than he can.

I wonder if Ricky has gottem some inspiration from the other star with a (previously) blown out knee? I bet AP called Ricky with some words of encouragement at some point. Go Wolves.

Given that the Wolves are right in the thick of things in terms of possible playoffs without Rubio, I would not bring him back until mid-January. To me, it makes sense to allow Mother Nature to do her thing and for Ricky to do his thing in practice. Another month of that dynamic duo can only help heal and strengthen his knee so that he will truly be ready for NBA action when he returns.
