Restraint - Democrats love increasing taxes. A growing government is their plan. In order to do that they must increase taxes to keep up with the government growth. Under Democrat rule it is only a matter of how fast the government grows, 15%, 20%, 25%.

Cutting redundant programs and ineffective but "feel good" programs would be a good place to start. Requiring receipts for per diem (untaxed!) payments would show some personal responsibility by our elected tax and spenders. A 10% cut in every dept. should begin immediately. I forget-is our uber-wealthy (unearned $$$) governor not accepting a salary or insurance? He should if he's not

I see that the ones who came in second in the election are already throwing stones. So much for the right trying to get problems solved. It seems that you'd rather see budget and job issues get worse rather than better.

Restraint doesn't even come close when you have a deficit. You have past due bills to pay, they get paid first. that's the way Minnesotans do it. Then you've got unsupportable spending on the books (the Vikings stadium and all the infrastructure of a Minnesota Sports facilities Commission), that needs to be legislated out of existence. then you've got an unsustainable social services net. First you need to redefine who Minnesotans are (one year residency and work history) and who they are not by any stretch of the lawful imagination(you know who I'm talking about). Stop talking about bonding, elections, or anything else that doesn't structurally reconstruct our failed state government into a sustainable, responsible, and limited authority that it is designed to be.

Laughable. Dayton will get his tax on the "rich." And the Dem controlled house and senate will come up with new ways to spend the "new" money. Gov't grows. Spending grows. Taxing grows. And nary a single program in existance will be looked at to see if we can possibly cut anything.

Restraint? Is this the same Governor Dayton who wasted several hundreds of millions of dollars of the taxpayers' money for subsidies of Mr. Wilf's stadium?

A good friend of mine who voted for the DEMs was shocked to learn they gained control of both houses. Like Marty said... " I prefer divided government". The DEMs will defintely misinterpet this as a mandate to screw the taxpayer.

Can't wait to see the DEMs pay off the school debt, "balance the budget" LOL and then, march forward with a billions of brand spanking new spending. 3yrs from now and 10 billion dollars more in NEW spending later we'll be wringing our hands again and complaining about the mean spirited Republicans who refuse to "pay for government".
