Scoggins: Whirlwind rise makes coach's head spin

In hours, Wayzata grad went from being a Northern Illinois football assistant to coach of its Orange Bowl team.

I'm a Wayzata alumni and remember having the chance to be coached by Rod during a football camp in the summer of '91. He was just a young guy, home for the summer from attending Indiana. Truly a class act role model and you could tell then that he really had a gift for reaching out and giving instruction. Couldn't be happier for him, way to go Rob!

NDSU should be in Mac. They'd be in orange bowl. They beat Mac champ central Michigan 44-14 couple years back

@ndsulakes - so you beat the MAC champ "a couple years ago", and you think you deserve the OB? Get real. Teams come and go, and sometimes champs are weak, sometimes they are strong. This NIU team, and the MAC in general right now, is strong (at least stronger than normal). Some years the MAC is weak; this is like any conference. "Who beat who a couple years ago" means exactly squat.
