What went wrong?! How about having a 19th century agenda for elections in the year 2012. Ya think that might have had something to do with it.
If the Republicans don't already know the problem they are even more clueless than I feared.
If you ever want to win a major election again quit wasting everybody's time focusing on gay marriage and abortion.
averagejoe55: Your right, but it also didn't help to attack women's rights, gay rights and consistently favor the rich over the middle class. It also didn't help to be arrogant, conceited, loud mouthed, make stupid statements,be non-cooperative, attack senior citizens, and a general think that the middle class are stupid and will fall for whatever they said.It also didn't help to call people names, like our own Hackbarth here in MN who decided that a voter who disagreed with him was Nazi and a murderer.
Simple answers: 1) Be willing to compromise. There's room between the far right and the center. 2) Stop pushing religious and fear-based agendas on the voters. We've heard them both for over a decade and we aren't buying either. 3) Acknowledge that blacks, Hispanics, gays, women and the elderly are worthy of your consideration and concern. Then make them an important part of your programs. My guess is that the RNC will have a really hard time coming to grips with all three of these.
Hmmmm. What could possibly have gone wrong? Could it have been the fact that the entire GOP campaign was built on lies and distortions? No, that couldn't possibly be it. Here's hoping the GOPers keep scratching their heads for another decade. Heh.
Maybe they could hire a research firm to develop a comprehensive report. Then they could spend more money to dismiss the report and continue in their clueless way. The "my way or the highway" politics has grown old and the intolerance is just breathtaking. Do they really not understand what went wrong???
Again, just as they reacted during the health care debates in 2009, 2010, they don't have an alternative. Whether or not you agree with Obamacare or any other legislation, it sure as hell is hard to argue against it if you don't have something better to offer.
Can't it be enough this already ? If the RNC doesn't have the common sense to figure out why not enough people voted for them, then they can hire me as an outside consultant to tell them. And i will give them both a simple and a comprehensive report! And, I should be able to make enough to buy the home I want.
Since the origination of the Southern Strategy, if not before, the GOP has employed hate to win votes because white rich guys is too small a demographic to win on its own. This strategy never pricked their consciences since the goal was simply to make the rich richer, and duping people with hate based agendas worked so effectively. The dilemma for the GOP is how do they step away from the haters but still get enough votes to win. Not that the GOP has suddenly become principled, they just want to win. So the question is, how can they win by appearing to give a flying fart about the other 98 percent. Can a leopard change his spots? Can't be done.
