Pope Benedict says there were no animals at Jesus' birth. And PETA says live nativity displays are too stressful for donkeys and other animals.

Do away with the celebration of Christmas altogether. It has become too commercialized and is nothing more than a feeding frenzy for the stores and outlet malls.

SHEESH first city hall, now the scene in front of a church. Have a happy CHRISTMAS.

My message to PETA is three fold. 1 - There is an elderly person, alone, who would love to connect with another person. 2 - There is a prisoner who could use a mentor to turn her/his life around. 3 - There is a child in an economically deprived area who could use a friend/mentor so as to become a contributor to society.

The basic message of the article is accurate. There is no good reason for including live animals in nativity displays, period. Personally I shun those that do, and make sure if there is a way to economically shun them and spread the word, I'm on that too.

The biggest sign of our sad times is that people are forced by the media to listen to the likes of PETA who are nothing more than a group holding extreme views posing as experts.

There will always be an abundance of ignorance.

Not only is it cruel to the animals but what about the baby, the mother, the father and the three black guys that get to have to stand outside all night long?

I'd rather have lamb chops!

How does Benedict know that? Joseph kicked them out so Mary could have some privacy? Cold night in Bethlehem - the electric blanket isn't working because it hasn't been invented yet, and there is no stove in the animal shelter - cozy up next to a couple of sheep in the hay, or shiver... How does he know that with such surety?

Thanks Jdlellis1 Good suggestion to PETA members....maybe they should reach out and help somebody instead of sitting around thinking of what they can do to enhance their own ego... Most of them don't have enough to do...
