When the "peace" prize is given to those who illegally bomb countries and depose leaders or give hope to rebels who are then massacred, it shows how irrelevant the award is. It means nothing anymore. There are people dying around the world fighting for the human rights of others, and they give it to the EU?

muggsh2o, you are correct that people are dying around the world fighting for the human rights of others. Those people may be deserving of great honors, but a peace prize is not one of them.

I do, however agree the prize has been given out to nonsensical recipients.

It's a long time since anyone has taken this award seriously.

What did they award them the Peace prize for, for pushing austerity on Greece?

I'm sure this will give great comfort to the masses of unemployed Greeks, Spaniards, etc. I doubt that we'll be hearing from them anytime soon. By the way, when will Ghandi be receiving his peace prize?

Really? Because they were sooo effective in Bosnia. And they prevented sooooo much sufferring in Eastern europe for 50 years of the cold war. What a pile of horse apples. The entire Nobel Prize program has become a joke. They are just as irrelevant as the Useless Nincompoops at the UN. Bill G.

The Nobel committee has distinguished itself as a running joke - from Obama's nomination (2 weeks after he assumed office, but 3 years before he bombed Libya), and now this.
