Game plan's success renders Ponder moot

All that concern about the quarterback became no issue when the Vikings were able to win by their preferred method, running the ball.

"The Vikings also know their passing game isn't going to magically improve, especially with Percy Harvin now on injured reserve." How can it magically improve with Ponder at the helm? Another pathetic performance, but at least he didn't kill us. The Vikes were fortunate to play a Bears team that has beaten nobody lately....except the Vikings. They might be able to scratch out a win or two with their antiquated offense, but make no mistake. Unless they develop a passing game, and quickly, they will go nowhere fast. If they want to improve the offense, Play Webb. He is a dynamic player, with a powerful arm, and he will add another dimension to the offense. It's OK to sit Ponder, since he hasn't really played in about 6 weeks anyway.

No need for Ponder to throw the ball with the Vikes up by 2 scores. Vikes staff allowed Cutler to lose the game rather than Ponder. It may not be exciting or the way of the NFL norm but with AP it is the best way to win games for the Vikes. Don't look for much to change this year with the current personnel but with next yrs draft maybe the Vikes can address the passing game. I say draft not FA accusitions because the Vikes don't seem to pick FA receivers very well.

Ponder is terrible and he's turning the Vikes into the NFLs laughing stock. He is not a NFL QB now and NEVER will be. Anybody who says they need more time to evaluate his ability is nuts. He does not have the physical tools to be a NFL QB. Both he and Spielman should be gone as soon as the season is over. Playoffs??? Forget it!

If he can't throw why have him in. At least Joe Webb can run.

Great quarterbacks are fearless in the pocket under pressure. Ponder repeatedly gets in trouble because he doesn't step into throws which results in underthrows, inaccuracy and balloons. Experience can't help young qbs who hear footsteps from real or phantom pass rushers.

The two rookie db's Robinson and Smith helped Peterson win the game, Ponder was just along for the ride and I was still concerned about him throwing the game after the interception. He lacks the ingredients to ever be an effective QB so their little experiment with leaving him at the helm will only put more and more egg on their faces. Frazier is a cheap Dungy copy who lacks the Dungy intellect so he needs to be shown the teams back door with Ponder. Just because he can stand like a Dungy statue doesn't a coach make.

On the morning of Dec. 9, 2012, Christian Ponder is the quarterback of a winning team and in this league, style points don't mean squat. Winning, as Lombardi famously quipped, is the only thing. Every quarterback I've seen, including the so called "great" ones, panic in the pocket, have lousy games, make poor decisions. Ponder made two terrific throws on the five minute, field position-changing drive in the fourth quarter. Big time, fit-it-in-a-mailbox throws and the equally maligned receivers made good catches. Will Ponder ever be Aaron Rodgers? No. Does he have the gun of a Brett Favre? No. But for all his inexperience and limitations, he's quarterbacking a 7-6 team one season removed from a 3-13 bilious campaign. If any of the negative Vikings fans, on the opening day of this season's training camp, would be told that the team would be 7-6 with three games left and in the playoff hunt they would have wet their pants with disbelief. Well, they are. Christian Ponder is the quarterback, and he did enough quarterbacking today to whip the Bears 21-14. Deal with it and support the Vikings next week. Even though you're a Vikings fan, it's permissible to have hope.

While I agree Ponder has not been a very good quarterback, let's not forget about the receivers. The Vikes receivers are HORRIBLE, exception being Rudolph and Harvin. They can't get open and they have also dropped a lot of passes. There's plenty of blame to go around I don't believe all of the Vikes offensive woes lay squarely on Ponder's shoulder. He's had a lot of help making that offense look pathetic. How bad would the Vikes be if they didn't have AP???????
