Hats off to the Gophers volleyballers. I honestly believe if they had been put anyplace but the region with Penn St., they would have had a legitimate shot to go to the final four. Penn St. is just a freight train that is going to win the national championship, hands down. I'm glad we got Hugh M. to come in and be the Coach, but Laura Bush did a fantastic job while she was in charge, and there is no doubt in my mind that the Gophers would have made it this far this year with or without Hugh. I'm really glad she was retained by Mr. McCutcheon, because I think she is a great coach. After what she did last year as the coach, there is no doubt that some team is going to come calling for her to be their head coach. The best part of having Hugh come here, though, is not only for his great volleyball mind, but for the 4 star recruits he is going to bring in because of his notoriety and fame. The minute he was signed, the Gophers immediately got requests to transfer to the program. That says a lot about the coach, and the future is very bright indeed, for the Lady Gophers.

Penn State has everyone back except Carpenter, and their next TWO incoming recruiting classes are deemed two of the best ever. I love the fight in our girls, but fans better keep their expectations realistic. Any possible championships are still many years away.

Well, for the next couple years, then, all the Gophers have to do is get any seed at all other than 8 or 16, and we will not have to see Penn St. unless we make the final 4.

I'm pretty proud that the Big Ten put 4 teams in the Elite 8 and 2 teams in the Final 4. Michigan beat #2 Stanford to go to the Final 4. #4 Nebraska choked and lost to Oregon, or it would have been THREE Big Ten teams in the Final 4.

Feel good stories both Michigan and Oregon in the Final Four for the first time in program history. I remember that feeling like it was yesterday when the Gophers made their first appearance back in 2003.
