it's still early, but can't help thinking this team has been a disappointment so far this year. They're basically a .500 team in league.

The Gophers simply collapsed, twice blowing a 3-goal lead. The last half of the game was a half-hearted effort. They tend to build a lead and then coast, an approach they'd better shed or the end of season will be premature.

Where the heck are Bjugstad, Rau, Haula and Schmidt during crunch time? Every game where crunch time occurs, they disappear. This was a winnable game and they all choked. Unbelievable! They could be sitting in 1st place with Denver, but no. This game will come back to haunt them. The offense better step up the way Wilcox has stepped up this season. Cheezus, do we need to talk about Dean Blais as head coach to motivate this team? This team, on paper, is head and shoulders above any other team in the country. But on ice is where it really matters.

I believe they changed the Kyle Rau goal to Erik Haula. Rau's shot deflected off Haula's leg. That means no goals from the first line all weekend.

Still with the Goph's all the way but if the Cajun Man was a Gopher hockey fan he could sum up this first part of the season with one word, Fruhstrayshonnnneeeee....

Anyone surprised that a Don Lucia coached team had an epic collapse. Lucia has not swept a WCHA series yet. If the Gophers had a hard working decent coach, things would be different. With all the talent they have, not to sweep a single WCHA series points directly to coaching.

dexterjibs.....it is called coaching. Don Lucia rarely improves his players. When they come to the team, what you see is what you get. It is really a shame as this team has loads of talent, but the players you mention have careers that have thus far been stagnant under Lucia.

looks like the gophers are weak at goalie as usual- why can this team never have dominant goal tending?

Goaltending has not been bad. Up until this weekend Wilcox was 5th in the country in goals against. This is all coaching. Lucia has perhaps the best players in the country on this team. If you switch coaches with Notre Dame, this team would be ranked number one in the country and playing to their potential. I really think Lucia is basically collecting a paycheck and feels entitled. This programs needs new blood at coach. One that is hungry and can adjust to today's game. I am still amazed at the number of defense lapses this team has. Game in and game out the defense is caught out of position. That last goal last night across the entire rink with NO Gopher in the passing lane was pathetic......and coaching.
