Proof that Minnesota has excellent small college football from Duluth, Mankato, to StThomas these are great football programs. Here's to UST beating the purple red raider hawks or whatever they are. Go go go UST win the title.

U$T has put themselves in a box. If they go D2 I'm guessing they would easily be the most expensive school in the NSIC (U$T is about $31,000 for tuition). Concordia, St. Paul (a private urban college) is $2000 less. St. Cloud St is about $7,000 and UMD $12,000. They would have a very difficult time bringing in athletes even if they could offer athletic scholarships. A half scholarship at U$T would cost an athlete $15,000 vs. $3,500 at SCSU. In addition there really isn't much, if any money to be made at the D2 level. Fact is that U$T is spending tons of money on athletics already. How much does their radio deal w/ 'CCO cost them?

The point is a Minnesota school hammered a cheeseville school and we own those cheese strings. Whether UST should move up is a moot point. Yes they raise a lot of funding dollars, yes the have Great facilities. So what, they are better at it then the rest of you. They are a private school. Whitewater has 10,000 students and is a public school. These programs dominate because they have good people coaching and can recruit then deliver results, winning.
