Vikings' Winfield hasn't lost it: Game, smile both endure

Football is a rough business, so how do you explain the Vikings' 35-year-old cornerback still thriving after 14 seasons in the NFL?

First class player and human being. It has been a real pleasure watching him play for the Vikings for the past several years. Let's get some revenge on the Bears today!

Great article on a great player.

Winfield will suffer the same fate as EVERY viking player before (and after) him that began and ended their career with this loser jinxed franchise and that is he will retire with NO Super Bowl ring. Gee, what an honor. NOT!!!

Thanks for digging out and writing a column about the character and personality of one of the few stars on this team.

Great article and a very positive one too. Its high time something positive was written about our team. I've enjoyed watching Antoine Winfield's play since he first came to the Vikings. His heart, grit, determination and will to win is as big, or bigger than any Vikings player past or present. Antoine's a first-ballot HOFer in my humble opinion. Someday, I look forward to seeing Antoine's name and number enshrined in our Vikings Ring of Honor. But I hope that day is still far away because Antoine seems to have a lot of great play left in him. Skol Vikings!

I love watching Antoine play. He is the smallest player on our defense yet is the hardest hitter. And on close-ups you can see him smiling which shows how much he enjoys playing the game. Just a great football player. Great to read that he is also a great guy!!!

Nice guy, but NOT a great player, he's been getting beat (torched) all season. Watch the games. He's NEVER, EVER been good in coverage - fact.

I hope the Vikings have a plan for him after his playing days. He's smart, respected, and a natural teacher. He'd be a great D backs coach.

fwallen, that's exactly what I was thinking the whole time when reading the article. The day he retires they should offer him a contract as an assistant.
