I agree that times are tough. That is a huge increase in need over a short period of time. What I find curious, and all local, county and state politicians do it us: "the money comes from the federal government". Is that supposed to make entitlement spending more palatable? The workers are paying for other people's daily needs! As sorry as I am for those down and out, ho about gettingva second,part time job? That's what I did when I needed more money. There is no more stigma attached to spending other people's money, and that is wrong. Food stamp benefits come in a pre-loaded credit card. No one knows in the checkout line that they are paying(indirectly) for someone's food. How nice for them. This is meant for those that are not doing all they can. I know from my employment experience that most are not doing all they could to take care of themselves. This needs to change, it is not sustainable nor good for society.
