Why Apple? Windows machines are HALF the cost and still more prevalent in non-arts business sectors.

The Apple products have proven durable and to be low maintenance in many other schools in the hands of kids. They don't get viruses.

If you are going to take money from the taxpayers and give it to the students you may as well give them the most expensive toys possible!

I have 3 kids in EP schools. 2 of them have the iPad. I can tell you that it is a major distraction and their grades are suffering because of it. The school did not prepare very well for the use of these devices. I believe many kids are using it for games and social media. Any research that gets done at home could be done on our home computer. I for one sure as heck don't see a need for this expenditure and the school is ill prepared to use it. Their is no curriculum that I have seen and when discussing with my kids they use it for taking notes and emails. Each of those things were available for free before. I bet the district will be asking for more money via referendum soon.
