We are all only temporarily "abled" and time will prove that to all who voted against this international acknowledgement of the reality of our shared vulnerabilities.

The GOP voted against this for two reasons: 1. It has something or other to do with the UN. 2. Obama signed it.

Watching Rick Santorum spew out lies of how this act will allow the UN bureaucrats to come into his home and take his disabled child has to be a new low point for the Republicans. How can one use a child as a prop to stoke fear and loathing. How can we hope to govern when the bill's Republican co-sponsor voted against the bill when the hammer of the right threatened to "primary" anyone who voted for it.

The Republican party has turned into a complete joke! The party of obstructionism. The party of no, even to radification of a disabilities treaty that has no effect on anyone in America. The rest of the world must think we are insane. This is a continuation of the GOP's downward spiral!

Yet ANOTHER reason why I will not vote for any Republican in the foreseeable future. They need to reorganize their party so the extremists are no longer in charge and revamp their platform so that it includes common sense and scientific facts instead of conspiracy theories and wishful thinking. I don't know how anyone can be affiliated with the GOP these days and not be completely embarrassed to call themselves a Republican.

Conservative Republicans need to retake the power of their party from the Religious Right and Tea Party. When John McCain votes Yes for a human rights issue with the Democrats and most of the rest of his party vote No, there is a problem.

My illustrious Sen. John Thune of South Dakotga also voted against this bill. He is an up and coming darling of the Republican party and I hope folks remember his vote.

Why am I not surprised by this vote. The Republicans who voted against this Treaty have stooped to a new low, and for Rick Santorum to say what he said only proves he was no more than the most unsutiable candidate for the Republican candadacy for President. It is sad when a person will vote against something that helps to protect those who are most vulnarable to discimination. It just makes me wonder what on earth is going on in these peoples' minds.

It appears that liberals forget that we are governed by our elected official and not the UN.

They also forget that we have numerous laws, including the ADA which protect people in this country. Perhaps the UN should demand that the entire world adopt our laws.

A to think that liberals respect the UN after they appoint Iran to the Women's Right council and Saddam Hussein's Iraq to Human Right's council is very, very odd.
