Does anyone know if the sale of Afton Alps includes Mount Kato in Mankato as well? I don't know if Afton owned Mt Kato or just handled operations.

Maybe the State of Minnesota should approach Vail about purchasing Giants Ridge Ski area which is currently owned and operated by the state using our tax dollars. Have you ever wondered why our taxes are paying for a ski resort and two golf courses? I have.

If a season pass at Afton gets me big discounts in Colorado I'm going to be extremely happy!

It's True. Afton has become a dump recently so I'm VERY Happy this place is bought out, and will only become better! MN needs places like this.

this is great news. My kids have season passes to Afton, and I stopped out there last night to inquire about the big Vail Resorts acquisition. When the Vail Resorts deal goes through, the 2013-14 Afton season passes will be the "Epic Pass", which is used for all areas within the Vail Resort system. There are varied prices/accessibility options for Epic passes, but this should be a major net benefit to Afton Alps skiers who also travel to CO during the winter months. Bravo!!

I am From Mn. Hard core skier and snowboarder. Now live in Vail for the past 12 winters.. I Hope V.R. can put some money into the Vertical drop...Pile a bunch of dirt onto of some hills. 300' is barley enough for people to enjoy skiing or snowboarding. Yes if they up the park and do base remodels..But real skiers and snowboarders want turns!! I would love to see a 600' vert outside Mpls without going to Wis. or upper Mn.
