It's about time. Hope other states follow. But I'd like to see a better structured system to set up sales and taxation. And, we still need a some guidance or legal limit on operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.
Analysts have estimated that a legal pot market could bring Washington hundreds of millions of dollars a year in new tax revenue for schools, health care and basic government functions.
Remind me not to move to that state!

rms316, you have obviously not been paying attention, the new law in Washington State specifically addresses both of those issues you mentioned in detail. Read up about it!
I'm sure it will bring social problems similar to alcohol, however if that is what people want they have the freedom. It will be interesting to see the long term effects.
Well if its going to be legal in your state of course tax it as liquor is, but don't count on it coming to this state for along time

Why shouldn't legalize and tax it. These people are going to smoke regardless of the law. Plain and simple: there are millions of tax dollars being left on the table.
Quit prosecuting people for marijuana and legalize it.
