"It's hardly a surprise that conductor Osmo Vanska, at right, and the Minnesota Orchestra, hailed in recent years as one of the world's top orchestras, are nominated for best orchestral performance, for "Sibelius: Symphonies Nos. 2 & 5." Vanska and the orchestra were nominated in the same category in 2008 for a recording of Beethoven's ninth symphony." AND FOR THAT THEY GET A PAY CUT?
The Okee Dokee Brothers are the BEST! Yes, my kids adore them, but honestly so do I. I've found myself cleaning the house, or driving through the country, or running around the lakes...listening to this album. It's really great, and I couldn't think of a harder working (and down to earth) duo in this niche genre. Good for you Justin and Joe. We're rooting for you...kids and adults.
As gladdad said, the Okee Dokee Brothers aren't just kids music. If you love the MN outdoors experience and have spent time in a canoe, you will love their songs and lyrics.
jcinmn-- The orchestra may be the best in the world, but if they can't bring in money then they have to deal with a pay cut. Lots of great bands in all genres struggle, because quality of music doesn't always translate into money.
The Okee Dokee Brothers are da BOMB! Their exceptional song-writing and showmanship are two of the many reasons why they are going to win this award!
