Well, do you want your son playing for Kill or not?

As usual, the Homer is way off target. I hate to be the one to break this top you, but you aren't a doctor! For some, trying to balance medicine is a lifelong struggle. And CEO's? There is no similarity between Csollege football coach and a CEO. A CEO doesn't recruit 17-18 year old kids. They don't spend day after day out in the sun and cold.

I think the atmosphere of a college football game raises your blood pressure, heart rate, who knows what other stress hormones over a long period of time. I can't imagine a less relevant comparison than a coach to a CEO. I'm a fan of Jerry. But being a fan doesn't mean that I think his health isn't s negative factor in his career choice.

Saturdays Strib editorial on Jerry Kill's seizures stated that his health difficulties were actually helping recruiting. Evidently, when recruit(s) and their parents become aware of Jerrys health battles, his will to overcome and his dedication to fight adversity, they want to be part of his orginization and join the team. So my question to you Sid: If the Doctor make him seizure free, will any recruit want to play for him?

I wish he would mention his doctor and if his doctor is successful, he should. Even if he's not, people with seizures can be intensely creative, resilient, courageous and strong. Having said this, it's still a deficit to have to worry about them, but wouldn't it be discrimination to say he's not worthy because of them? Judge him by his skills. Seizures are more common than people think and more people have them than others are aware of. Many work, live, study and play alongside this and we need more effective evaluation and treatment and less doctors passing out uncharted/ineffective expensive medicines.

Good luck, Coach! Personally, I think your goal is optimistic, but laudable. It is essential that you manage this condition, because it is a brickbat that naysayers will use against you. Football at the U is improving, but has a long way to go yet. I want to see you finish what you have started here.

If your seizures aren't hurting recruiting, please explain why the U of M is last in the Big Ten for next years recruiting class even lower than those schools which are going to be on probation for a few years.

Well, the Gophers have picked up a few dang good recruits the last few days. They don't seem to mind. And we got some really good talent in last year's class. McDonald, Pirsig, Hayes, Nelson, Harbison. All of those guys had multiple BCS offers, and chose Jerry Kill and the U.

I applaud Coach Kill on his work ethics, the way he is rebuilding this program, and most importantly for the strong effort he is making in handling his health problems. And yes I would want my son to play for Coach Kill because in addition to what he teaches kids on the football field, he teaches them how to deal with adversity which everyone will face in their lifetime.
