Too bad Simpson's "reaching out to younger generations" is mostly to rob the earned benefits they may have been hoping for. Instead of theatrics, it would be much better to offer innovations like a Medicare buy-in for at least some of those who don't currently qualify for its coverage with adjusted premiums to ensure benefits can be paid for those that do.

I'm sorry but we need to make cuts, the Medicare program is going to be bankrupt in about a decade...cuts need to be part of the conversation if we want to preserve the program for future generations.

I always like Simpson as a person - wonderful fellow. But his ideas on policy? - too much western stable flooring and weak thinking to be answers.
