Amazon launches Kindle content service for kids

NEW YORK - Amazon is launching a subscription service for children's games, videos and books aimed at getting more kids to use its Kindle Fire tablet devices.

This will be interesting to see how successful this initiative is for Amazon. Content availability is the future of consumer electronics - not selling the devices -but there is some market there. Currently it is the tail wagging the dog but all that will change as content owners look to leverage their digital assets for profit. Best Buy needs to figure this out. Best Buy could be like Switzerland - neutral - in the digital content world. Fatter margins in digital goods vs physical.

It would be great to have a books-only service for kids. They have enough devices for game-playing. I'd rather know that when they are on their Kindle, they are reading, not playing games.
