QB Shortell plans transfer from U football team

It used to be that the 'concept' of team and the spirit of competition' plus the idea that a challenge lies in front of you that will be very similar to the task that you will face following graduation would motivate a student to stick it out. Every person has the right to make a decision such as this young man did. As an employer I like to ask why your record shows a change of commitment. I like to hearken to the story of a young man who stuck it out on a Fighting Irish football team. Good luck young man. Thank you for what you gave us.

ha53hafm63 - Comparing Shortell to Rudy is like comparing apples to oranges. Rudy was an undersized athlete with little skill but a big heart who just wanted to belong. Shortell was an outstanding high school athlete with significant potential. He needs to do what is best for him and his future and sitting on the bench and watching Nelson isn't it. I don't blame him and wish him luck.

I liked Shortell, it sucks that he's leaving. Stop hammering the program, atleast he didn;t leave after writting a cry baby letter
