All these guys - execs, managers, players - are multimillionaires. They don't need our sympathy.

BallFourDec. 4, 1210:07 PM

Doesn't sound as if anyone is asking for sympathy.

what happens to ryan if he doesn't do his job?

mblaineDec. 4, 1210:34 PM

BallFour: They are not overtly asking for sympathy, but the article invites us into a drama concocted around these characters. However, the characters are unsympathetic.

Get Gardy out. We've had the worst winning % in the AL the last two seasons. Time for a change

Once he hangs up his managerial shoes, he will easily find work as Santa at all the malls.

I wish Terry Ryan would quit talking already. He's been in Nashville three whole days, and he hasn't pull the trigger on anything. It's always the same crap with this guy. It's like he cowers in the corner, afraid to talk to agents. He says high to one as he passes him in the hall, and he considers that a "conversation with an agent." Ugh. I"m telling you: This team will end up with Carl Pavano and Nick Blackburn again, and Terry will claim those were the two pitchers he wanted all along. Hey, Terry, you have $30M to spend (or $50, if he'd just loosen the purse strings)! You can find some decent pitching for that. Just quit being such a deliberate, penny-pinching fool.

Speaking of redundant...

Gardy is a great manager when he has great players. He is a poor manager when he has poor players. He does not develope players. He can take a good player and utilize their strengths (if they have any) and hide their weaknesses. He will only look good on a good team.

"Improvement. Hope. Direction. Leadership" Sounds more like Ryan is talking about the Boy-scouts and not Gardo. "Burton" was hurt, or still recovering but old Gardo didn't rush him back into a that's managing according to Ryan. Oh...forgot..."He didn't panic" Herein lies some of the trouble with the Twins right now...while I would certainly agree with don't put hurt players on the field...but if that's the best description of Gardo's managing highlights from this past season their in bigger denial than we think. You can tear apart each word Ryan used to evaluate his manager and the results don't look good. "Improvement" Well, the the team won a couple more more games in 2012..than 2011...but overall improvement each year under Gardo..don't see it. Playoff record speaks for itself. "Hope" Well I guess there's always hope...not quite sure how Ryan thinks that's a part of his managing attributes...maybe Gardo hopes he still has a job every-year. "Direction"...Hmmm..not sure what Ryan means there either...we've seen the direction Gardo has taken the team..."Leadership" there's one for the books...Gardo has certainly displayed true leadership qualities...out-managed in every critical series, regular season or post-season...has led the team to the bottom of the American League...has led the league in managing blunders...has led the league in number of players thrown under the bus...led all of MLB in adding "Y's" to every players name...etc etc
